Skip the Rush to the Terminal

Swartz Bay is the Vancouver Island end of the main BC Ferries route from Tsawwassen in Metro Vancouver, and the hub for sailings to the Southern Gulf Islands — Salt Spring, the Penders, Mayne, Galiano and Saturna. It sits at the very top of the Saanich Peninsula, a long way from downtown Victoria when you're watching the clock.

Staying in North Saanich puts you about 10 minutes from the terminal. Come off an evening sailing and be settled in shortly after, or make a first sailing of the day without a pre-dawn drive up from the city.

Both rentals have self check-in from 3 PM, a private entrance and free parking on site, so arriving straight off the boat is easy.

Getting around

The Ferry, the Airport and Sidney — All Minutes Away

From the farm, the Swartz Bay terminal, Victoria Airport and the seaside town of Sidney are all within about 10 minutes, and Butchart Gardens is 15 minutes away.

In summer and on long weekends, a vehicle reservation on the Tsawwassen route is a good idea — check bcferries.com for current schedules before you travel.

Staying a few nights? The Gulf Islands make an easy day trip from Swartz Bay — walk on or bring the car, then come back to the farm for dinner and a sunset at Pat Bay.

Can we check in late after an evening ferry?

Yes. Check-in is from 3 PM with self check-in and a private entrance, so a later arrival is no problem — just mention your sailing time in your inquiry.

Which rental suits our group?

The Suite (2 bedrooms + loft) sleeps up to 6. The Smart Home (4 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom) sleeps up to 8. Both are on the same property.

Is breakfast included?

No — we're a self-catering stay rather than a traditional B&B. Both rentals have a full kitchen with cooking basics, coffee and a coffee maker, and Sidney's grocery stores and cafés are about 5 minutes away.
